This house on a Blue Ridge Mountain Lake was created as a place to retreat to on weekends and holidays with family and friends. The house was constructed primarily of local pine and mountain stone, and furnished with contemporary and old-time regional pieces.

All of the roofs are standing-seam metal that is evocative of the rural tin roofs in the county. Peeled locust log posts and pine sapling fretwork and ceiling enclose one end of the deck on the lakeside of the house. The deckside windows are 11 feet high and the French doors are 8 feet high, giving the home a more open and sunny feel. Due to the steep slope, the entrance was placed on the upper level of the house and the rooms were stepped down to the water. The public spaces and the studio-bedroom are placed below, with two upstairs bedrooms. Two bedrooms are lucky enough to open onto secluded outdoor areas.
